Tooth colored composite fillings are done in our office because they look natural and don’t create the problems that are associated with amalgam (silver) fillings. Amalgam fillings sit in a prepared tooth without bonding to the tooth surfaces, like the composite filling. Over time, your filling could break down and start to pull away from the edges of your tooth’s enamel. This could create space where bacteria can collect and lead to more serious dental issues. Composite fillings are another way we have for improving and protecting your oral health in a healthy, conservative way.
